Laser Welding of Metals
with Fiber Laser

Laser welding of metals is the process of joining metal parts with a focused, high-power laser beam. At Axinar in Thessaloniki we use handheld fiber laser welding technology with the GloryStar GW-H 4-in-1 machine, rated at 3KW and equipped with a dual wire feeder. This technology delivers aesthetic welds with no need for grinding, minimal thermal distortion (HAZ) and a working speed up to 10 times higher than conventional TIG welding.

The 4-in-1 function means the same machine performs four tasks: laser welding, laser cleaning, laser cutting and brazing. Laser cleaning removes rust, oxides and surface contamination without chemicals or mechanical means, ideal for surface preparation before welding or as a stand-alone laser cleaning service.

We handle laser welding of inox (stainless steel 304/316), laser welding of aluminium, steel, galvanised and copper. The dual wire feeder allows the use of two different filler materials simultaneously, ensuring perfect weld fill even on dissimilar metals. The result is visible, aesthetic welds, ideal for inox structures, doors, displays and architectural elements.

The cost of laser welding depends on material, thickness, weld type, weld length and part complexity. The price of laser welding is provided after submitting a drawing or photos. Request a free quote.

No Grinding

Aesthetic laser weld that does not require post-finishing, saving time and cost.

Minimal Distortion

The focused laser beam limits the heat-affected zone (HAZ), preserving the geometry and mechanical properties of the part.

4-in-1 Function

Welding, cleaning, cutting and brazing in a single machine, full flexibility with no equipment changes.

Integrated Production

Laser cutting, bending, welding, coating, all in-house at Axinar. One point of contact, zero delays.

Why Laser Welding

Aesthetic Weld

Visible, uniform laser weld with no spattering or grinding. Ideal for inox structures and architectural elements.

10x Faster than TIG

Laser welding of metals is completed in a fraction of the time required for conventional TIG, shorter lead times and lower labour cost.

Minimal Heat (HAZ)

The focused fiber laser beam minimises the heat-affected zone, no distortion, no change to mechanical properties.

Dual Wire Feeder

Dual wire feeder for perfect weld fill, even on dissimilar metals. Flexibility in the choice of filler material.

4-in-1 Flexibility

Welding, cleaning, cutting and brazing from a single machine. Full coverage of needs with no equipment changes.

Laser Cleaning

Removal of rust, oxides, paint and contamination with no chemicals or sandblasting. An eco-friendly, fast laser cleaning solution.

    FAQ, Laser Welding of Metals

What is laser welding and how does it differ from TIG/MIG?
Laser welding uses a focused fiber laser beam instead of an electric arc. Compared with conventional TIG or MIG welding, laser welding of metals offers: speed up to 10x higher, minimal thermal distortion, aesthetic welds with no grinding and a smaller heat-affected zone (HAZ). It is ideal for thin sheets and applications that require appearance.
Which materials do you weld with laser?
At Axinar we handle laser welding of inox (stainless steel 304/316), laser welding of aluminium, steel (S235/S355), galvanised and copper. The dual wire feeder allows the welding of even dissimilar metals with perfect weld fill.
What is the maximum thickness for laser welding?
With the GloryStar GW-H 3KW machine we weld steel up to 6mm, inox up to 5mm and aluminium up to 4mm. For greater thicknesses, Axinar has full MIG/TIG welding equipment that covers heavier fabrication.
    What is laser cleaning?
Laser cleaning is the removal of rust, oxides, old paint and surface contamination with a laser beam, with no chemicals, sandblasting or mechanical means. It is eco-friendly, fast and does not alter the substrate. It is used as preparation before welding or as a stand-alone service.
How much does laser welding cost?
The cost of laser welding depends on material, thickness, weld type (butt, lap, fillet), weld length and part quantity. The price of laser welding is provided after submitting a drawing or photos, send us your part and you will receive a detailed quote within 24 hours.
Does the weld need grinding after laser welding?
In most cases, no. Laser welding produces a uniform, aesthetic weld that does not require post-grinding or spattering removal. This saves time, cost and preserves the appearance of the structure, particularly important on inox structures and architectural elements.
Do you also handle the next steps after welding?
Absolutely. Laser welding is one stage in the integrated production flow at Axinar. After welding, we can take on deburring, powder coating, galvanizing or quality control, all in-house in Thessaloniki, with no outsourcing.
