Metal laser cutting — fiber laser cutting, Axinar Thessaloniki

Metal Laser Cutting
with Fiber Laser

Metal laser cutting is the process of cutting metal sheets and profiles with a high-power focused laser beam. At Axinar in Thessaloniki we specialise in sheet metal laser cutting using exclusively fiber laser technology, which ensures minimal thermal distortion, a clean burr-free cutting edge and maximum repeatability — even on large production runs. Compared to older CO2 laser technology, fiber lasers offer significantly higher cutting speeds, lower energy consumption and minimal maintenance cost — which is why they are the modern standard in industrial metal laser cutting.

With three CNC laser cutting machines (two GWEIKE 3KW and one Glory Star 20KW with IPG Photonics source) we cover the full range of needs: from thin 0.5mm sheets up to steel laser cutting of 40mm thickness. The cutting bed in sheets of 4000×2000mm means fewer joints, lower risk and faster production, while the cutting speed reaches 150m/min on thin sheets. The laser cutting accuracy of ±0.1mm guarantees a perfect fit even on the most demanding parts, with a minimal heat-affected zone (HAZ).

We handle stainless steel laser cutting (304/316), aluminium laser cutting, galvanised, copper and brass. In addition to flat sheet, we perform tube laser cutting, hollow sections and solid profile laser cutting — tubular, square and round. Applications include laser cutting for steel structures, laser cutting for photovoltaic mounts and laser cutting for industrial parts — complete manufacturing solutions without the need for outsourcing. Learn how metal laser cutting works.

The cost of laser cutting depends on factors such as: material type and laser cutting thickness, drawing complexity (DXF / DWG files), part quantity, nesting optimisation (optimal part placement on the sheet) and additional processing. The laser cutting price varies according to the job — the laser cutting price per metre is provided after a drawing is submitted. Request a free quote for accurate pricing.

Why Metal Laser Cutting

Cutting speed

Cutting at speeds reaching 150m/min on thin sheets. Short lead times, even on large metal laser cutting quantities.

Laser cutting accuracy ±0.1mm

The fiber laser beam via a high-precision cutting head ensures a narrow kerf and minimal tolerance — ideal for parts that require an accurate fit.

Minimal thermal distortion

The focused laser beam limits the heat-affected zone (HAZ), preserving the mechanical properties of the material. Burr-free cutting.

Complex geometries

CNC laser cutting of complex designs, small holes and fine details — without tooling or mould costs. We accept DXF / DWG files.

Nesting & Optimisation

Automatic optimal placement (nesting) of parts on the sheet for maximum material utilisation. Less waste, lower laser cutting cost.

Flat Sheet & Tubes

Laser cutting on both flat sheets and tubes & profiles (tube laser cutting). One point of contact for every metal laser cutting need.

    FAQ — Metal Laser Cutting

What is the maximum metal laser cutting thickness?
The maximum laser cutting thickness depends on the material and machine power. With the Glory Star 20KW machine we cut steel (steel laser cutting) up to 40mm, stainless steel (inox laser cutting) up to 30mm and aluminium (aluminium laser cutting) up to 25mm. The GWEIKE 3KW machines cut steel up to 20mm, stainless steel up to 12mm and aluminium up to 8mm. Laser cutting accuracy remains ±0.1mm on all machines.
What files do you accept for laser cutting?
For metal laser cutting we accept DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES and PDF files. If you do not have a technical drawing, send us a sketch or photo and the Axinar R&D design team will produce the appropriate DXF/DWG files for optimal nesting and CNC laser cutting.
Do you also cut tubes/profiles with laser?
Yes, tube laser cutting is one of our core services. Beyond flat sheet, we handle laser cutting of profiles — tubular, square, round profiles and hollow sections. This allows us to produce complete parts without outsourcing, ideal for metal structures and photovoltaic mounts.
What is the minimum lead time?
For simple metal laser cutting jobs we can deliver within 2-3 business days. For more complex projects with additional processing (bending, welding, coating), the time depends on the scope of work. In-house production in Thessaloniki eliminates delays from outsourcing.
Do you also handle the next steps after cutting?
Absolutely. Metal laser cutting is just the start. At Axinar in Thessaloniki we offer press brake bending, roll bending, CNC machining (milling, turning), MIG/TIG & laser welding, deburring, galvanising and powder coating — all in-house, in a single production flow.
How much does metal laser cutting cost?
The cost of laser cutting depends on the material, thickness, cutting length, drawing complexity and quantity. The laser cutting price per metre varies depending on these factors. For accurate pricing, send us your drawing (DXF/DWG) along with material, thickness and quantity — you will receive a detailed quote within 24 hours.
In which applications is laser cutting used?
Metal laser cutting at Axinar covers a wide range of applications: laser cutting for photovoltaic mounts (ground and roof mounts), laser cutting for structures (metal structures, frames), laser cutting for industrial parts, machinery components, architectural elements and custom metal parts. From prototype to series production.
