Frequently asked questions about wood boilers

What boiler output do I need?
It depends on floor area, insulation and climate zone, not on square metres alone. The Axinar range covers 30 to 250 kW. Send us the details of the building and we will propose a model.
What is the difference between the BM, BM-e and Peskon series?
BM (30 to 90 kW) covers homes and small commercial installations. BM-e (90 to 250 kW) targets large installations, with a Lambda sensor and advanced combustion control software. Peskon (30 to 60 kW) has a built-in heat exchanger for a more compact installation where boiler room space is tight.
How dry does the firewood need to be?
Below 20% moisture is acceptable, below 16% is ideal, and that takes 12 to 24 months of drying depending on the species and storage. Moisture is the expensive mistake: in one tonne of wood at 40% moisture you buy 600 kg of wood and 400 kg of water, then burn more wood to evaporate that water. An inexpensive wood moisture meter settles it in seconds.
What does the installation require and what does the warranty cover?
The requirements are minimal: two pressure relief valves, one thermal safety valve on the safety heat exchanger, and a voltage stabiliser. Those are also the only warranty conditions Axinar sets. The warranty is two years on mechanical parts and one year on electronics, with Axinar covering 100% of transport, labour and spare parts.
How long does a wood boiler last?
Under the EN 303-5 standard the service life is calculated at 25 years. The body is steel certified to EN 10204, and the multi-pass flue gas design is built for exactly that lifespan.
How often does it need cleaning?
The ash box holds 34 litres and up, which typically means emptying it once a week. Internal cleaning is quick, the baffles and internal geometry are designed for it.
