Pellet Burner for 120 sqm, Converting Your Existing Boiler

You already have an oil or gas boiler in good condition, but want to escape fuel costs? Replacing only the burner with an analog pellet burner is the most economical solution, you keep your boiler (body, heat exchanger, chimney, connections) and change only the unit that produces the flame.

When a Pellet Burner Makes Sense (Instead of a New Boiler)

  • Your existing boiler is under 10 years old and in good condition
  • You want to avoid the cost of purchasing + installing a new boiler
  • Oil or gas costs are high but your system works well
  • You have space for a pellet tank near the boiler room

If the boiler is old (>15 years) or in poor condition, better to go for a complete new pellet system like the PELIT PL20.

How Many kW You Need for 120 sqm

Building characteristics Burner Power
Good insulation, Zone A–B 15–20 kW (AP20)
Medium insulation, Zone B–C 20–28 kW (AP20 or AP30)
Older construction, Zone C–D 28–35 kW (AP30)

Important: The burner must “match” the existing boiler power. If you have a 32 kW boiler, a 20 kW burner won’t utilize the entire heat exchanger and will run continuously without meeting demand. If you have a 24 kW boiler and install a 35 kW burner, it will overheat and generate smoke.
